Mercantile Tennis Tournament 2009
The annual tennis tournament for the local commercial sector, the Mercantile Tennis Tournament, will commence from the 5th – 18th December, at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association hard courts in Colombo.
Entries close on the 1st December and the draw is scheduled to be held on the 4th of the same month. The Tournament Referee will be Avantha Suranimala. The entry fee per player per event is Rs.1,000.
The players who have played in divisions I & II, in both Inter-club Singles and Doubles Tournaments this year, can play only in Division I of the forthcoming Mercantile Tournament.
Those who have played in a lower division in the two Inter-club tournaments can play only in Division II while the any one who have not taken part in any of the inter-club tournaments this year will be eligible to compete in the Mercantile Tournament’s lowest division, i.e. Division III.
The events to be worked off at this year’s Tournament are as follows:
Men’s Singles (Division I, II & III) and Doubles
Women’s Singles and Doubles
Mixed Doubles
Seniors
Men’s Senior’s Singles and Doubles for Over-35, 45 and 55 age groups.
ITF approved balls will be used.
NDB Bank will graciously sponsor this popular tournament.
