ITF 14 & Under Asian Championships 2010 – Group 2 in Malaysia

Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association Centre will host the ITF 14 & Under Asian Championships 2010 – Group 2 in conjunction with the Asian Tennis Federation at Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
The tournament will take place from the 9th to 20th Jan 2010.
The Championships will be supported by the Grand Slam development Fund and will incorporate a one-day training camp followed by two 4-day tournaments.
The boy’s team will comprise of the following personnel:
• Shamal Dissanayake
• Nishangan Nadaraja
• Alex Fairbanks
• Reserve: Sanjeeve Mohankumar
The girl’s team will comprise:
• Kavindhya De Silva
• Thisuni Molligoda
• Nethmi Waduge
• Reserve: Thiruni Devaraj
Coach: Christopher Barathiraj pillai
The tournament will be conducted in accordance with ITF rules.
Zone 11
Though the entire team will represent, this will be an individual tournament conducted by the ITF under their Grand Slam development program.
From this tournament, ITF will choose the best 4 girl’s/boy’s to the ITF team to play the Zone 1in China this year.
Shamal Dissanayake, amongst all Sri Lankan players already represents the ITF team in Zone 1 in 2008 and 2009.
From Zone 1 ITF tournament, the ITF will choose the best girl’s/boy’s in the ITF Asian Team who will tour Europe for six weeks in the course of the year.
Whilst this tournament will kick start the 2010 tennis calendar, we wish all our players the best of luck.
